Dighton PTO – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is the PTO?
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a group of volunteer parents, caregivers, and staff who work together to support and enhance the educational experience at Dighton Elementary School (DES) and Dighton Middle School (DMS).

2. Do I have to volunteer a lot if I join?
Nope! Joining the PTO isn’t about giving up all your time — it’s about showing support for the students, staff, and families of DES & DMS. Whether you can help at one event, attend a meeting, or just share ideas—we appreciate every level of involvement.

3. How do I become a member?
Easy! All parents, guardians, and staff at DES and DMS are welcome. Keep an eye out for volunteer sign up forms or email us directly!—no fees or pressure!

4. What does the PTO do with the money it raises?
Every dollar raised goes directly back to the schools through events, enrichment programs, field trips, classroom supplies, teacher appreciation, and more.

5. How can I stay in the loop?
Follow us on social media, check school emails/newsletters, or attend our monthly meetings to stay updated on all PTO happenings.

6. What kinds of events does the PTO host?
We plan fun family nights, seasonal celebrations, fundraisers, teacher appreciation activities, and school spirit events throughout the year. Check out our Year Ahead calendar and our Monthly Newsletters!

7. I work full-time—can I still help?
Absolutely! There are plenty of ways to contribute from home or after hours. From donating supplies to helping with communication or planning, every bit counts.

8. When and where are meetings held?
Meetings are held monthly at DES or virtually. Dates and times are announced in advance through school communication channels. Free childcare is provided by Champions for every meeting!

9. Can I bring my ideas to the PTO?
Yes! We love fresh ideas and welcome input from all members. Your voice matters.

10. Who do I contact with questions?
Reach out to us anytime at ptodighton@gmail.com, and someone from our board will be happy to help.
